~It’s May!~
This little sliver of wall.
We’ve had this wall in the corner of our kitchen that felt too small to do anything substantial with and I had been looking for a spot for my medusa print. (Sidebar about said print: it was the first piece of art I bought for my apartment when I moved out on my own after the pandemic, so I have a lot of fondness for it and have now found a home for it in three different kitchens.) But it’s such a small print, I didn’t know where or how to hang it without it feeling too small for the space. Enter a facetime call with my bestie, who suggested grouping other things together to make a collection that would take up more space, and the rest is history. I’ve now had multiple guests say that they especially like this little corner of the kitchen; I can’t help but agree.
This table.
I’ve been scrolling through Facebook marketplace, trying to see if there are any finds that would fit in our sedan and also won’t cost us an arm and a leg for secondhand furniture. This piece, in particular, fell smack dab in the middle of that venn diagram. Is it partially busted? Yes. Other than that is it in pristine condition? Also yes. Is the way that it’s broken going to impede its function as a table? No. And so, with the help of my not-so-little Little Brother, it came home with me and it’s been the perfect fit in that corner of our living room.
Some updates to our wall.
We were given some prints as a “thank you” for our help with the Confirmation students over the past year. Our church had dedicated the Faith Formation programs to the Holy Family; the visual representation of this dedication being the mural of the Sacred, Immaculate, and Chaste Hearts in the Youth Center. For these prints, our youth ministers commissioned the whole image, not just the Heart then discerned which image to give each person. An added bonus of befriending the youth ministers? They had extras of the last print of the trio, so we got to bring all three home.
Some wildlife spotted.
We’ve been seeing more lizards running around our backyard lately and I’m loving it. Can you see him?
These bookshelves.
We have officially emptied all of our many boxes of books onto shelves thanks to this purchase. We were given some gift cards and one thing led to another and, while The Husband was on a work trip, I put these bad boys together. Now we just need to organize them all, but at least we know they all fit! I’m sure I’ll tackle that next work trip. It brings me great joy to see all of our books on shelves for us to see. I’m told 5 bookshelves worth is a lot of books, thoughts?
Up next month:
As I prepare for this change in seasons and finish this impromptu series I’ve been writing through, I’m going to be taking a break from this stack. Most likely I’ll return, I like writing too much to go on hiatus indefinitely, but I’ll be stepping back from the weekly Friday morning posts to go through the next couple months and everything life is throwing our way without the looming need to write something. This break will also give me a chance to discern and decide how I want Hallow & Home to continue and take the steps to make that plan a reality. I’ll be popping in to post a June monthly check-in, but other than that, I’ll be seeing you August 2, dear reader.
Until next time.
